1.Understand Briefly's Dual Messaging Architecture
Briefly Legal OS separates communications into two dedicated, purpose-built messaging systems to maintain strict professional ethics.
Controls:Global Messages InboxCase Privileged Chat
- Thread Type 1 — Global Pre-Engagement & Administrative Inbox (`/lawyer/messages`): Designed for prospective client inquiries, fee quotes, consultation scheduling, and non-matter chamber talk.
- Thread Type 2 — Case-Specific Privileged Litigation Thread (`/cases/[id]?tab=messages`): Dedicated to active courtroom matters, trial filings, certified order sharing, and attorney-client privileged strategy.
- Why Separated? Ensures prospective leads or billing discussions never contaminate formal court record dockets or violate attorney-client work-product confidentiality.
Chamber Authentication Required
Step 1 is shown above as a preview. All remaining procedural steps, litigation blueprints, and interactive controls require an active chamber or firm login.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can a client in Case A see messages from Case B?
- No. Each case thread is completely isolated by its unique matter docket ID (`CS-[id]`). Even if the same client has multiple active cases, each matter maintains its own segregated chat thread.
- What is the difference between `/lawyer/messages` and `/cases/[id]?tab=messages`?
- `/lawyer/messages` is your global inbox for general inquiries, fee negotiations, and leads before a formal case is created. `/cases/[id]?tab=messages` is the formal, privileged communication docket tied directly to an active litigation case.
- Can I send payment links and invoice notices directly in the chat thread?
- Yes. Click 'Send Invoice Link' in the message composer to attach an instant Cashfree payment link for milestone fee settlements.
